Getting paid as an IronVault developer
IronVault developers claim custom-development jobs from the developer job board and are paid through Stripe. IronVault keeps 10% of each job's value; you receive the rest.
- Accept the developer agreement. Open the developer agreement and accept the current version. When it changes in a way that needs your agreement, you are asked again before you can claim jobs.
- Set up payouts. On the job board press Set up payouts. Stripe, our payment partner, asks for your identity, bank account and tax details on its own secure pages, then sends you back. The panel shows Pending verification until Stripe has checked everything, then Payouts enabled.
- Claim a job. Every job shows its split, for example "Job value $500.00 · IronVault fee 10% ($50.00) · You receive $450.00". Jobs with a value can be claimed once payouts are enabled. Claiming opens a ticket with our team.
- Get paid. When we approve your work and the customer has paid us, we send your share to your Stripe account and email you "You've been paid". Larger jobs may be paid in parts, such as half at an early stage and half on delivery. Stripe then pays out to your bank on your payout schedule.
Your Stripe dashboard
Open Stripe dashboard on the job board signs you in to your Stripe Express dashboard: payouts to your bank, your bank details and your tax documents. Stripe collects your tax information and, where it applies (such as a 1099 in the United States), issues tax forms. You are responsible for your own taxes.
All communication stays on IronVault
Talk about a job only in its ticket on the IronVault site, and only accept payment through IronVault. Email addresses, phone numbers, Discord, Telegram or WhatsApp handles and invites, outside payment links and wallet addresses are removed from job messages automatically, and our team is told.
Contacting an IronVault customer outside IronVault, or taking work or payment from them directly, breaks the developer agreement (for 12 months after your last job for them) and can lead to removal from the board.
If something goes wrong
If Stripe can't pay out to your bank, the job board shows it and we email you: open your Stripe dashboard to fix your bank details. If a customer's payment is refunded or disputed after you were paid, our team looks at it with you before anything is taken back.
Questions
Why can't I claim a job?
Jobs with a value need payouts enabled first, and everyone has to accept the current developer agreement. The job board says which one is missing.
