Automatic Rust wipes on a schedule
Set your wipe schedule once and your Rust server wipes itself: a backup first, countdown messages in game, a fresh map, and an announcement when it is back.
- Open Wipe schedule. In the client area, press Rust tools on your Rust server, then Wipe schedule.
- Choose when. Press Use the Facepunch forced-wipe preset for the monthly forced wipe (first Thursday, 19:00 UK time), and add weekly or every-two-weeks map wipes if you like. Pick your time zone and whether blueprints are wiped too.
- Choose the new map. A random seed every wipe, keep the current one, or rotate through your own list of seeds and map sizes.
- Announce it. Pick the countdown minutes for in-game messages, and paste a Discord webhook URL (Server settings → Integrations → Webhooks) for a heads-up and a "wiped" post. Press Save schedule: the next wipes are listed below it.
What a wipe does
Takes a backup, stops the server, deletes the map and save files (and blueprints if chosen), sets the new seed and size, optionally puts the wipe date in the server name and description, starts the server and checks it is back online.
When a wipe is skipped
A suspended server is never wiped, and neither is one whose backup failed. A wipe whose time passed while our system was down is skipped rather than run late. You get an alert each time, and the next wipe stays on schedule.
Questions
Do I need a plugin?
No. Wipes go through the game panel. Countdown messages go over RCON when the live map is on, otherwise through the server console.
