Phone and email alerts
Alerts tell you when a server goes offline, our team replies to a ticket, a payment fails and more. Set them up under Alerts in the client area.
- Choose per alert. Each alert has a Phone push and an Email box. Tick one, both or neither. Changes save straight away.
- Turn on phone push. Press Enable phone push. Install the free ntfy app on Android or iOS.
- Subscribe in the app. Scan the QR code, or open the link on your phone. Or by hand: in the app add the server with the username and password shown, then subscribe to the topic shown, with "Use another server" set to our server.
- Test it. Press Send test alert. It goes to your phone when push is on, otherwise by email.
The alerts
Server offline and back online, replies on your tickets, failed payments, upcoming renewals, finished backup restores, new servers ready, a service suspended, and network status updates. Network status updates are off until you turn them on; you choose which services on the status page.
Account emails
Some emails are always sent, such as a failed payment or a new server being ready. Their email box shows Always; push for them is up to you.
Your push login
Your alerts go to a private topic that only your own login can read. The password is shown once. Lost it? Press New push login and sign in again in the app.
Turn off phone push deletes the login and disconnects your phone. Email alerts keep working.
What alerts contain
Just what happened and a link to the client area or ticket: never passwords, codes or ticket message text. A server that keeps dropping sends at most one offline alert every 15 minutes. Every alert email has a link to stop that kind of email.
