VPS first login and SSH keys
Your VPS is ready when its card in the client area shows it running. For safety, root password login over SSH is off unless you turn it on.
- Add your SSH key. In the client area, paste your public key (the .pub file) under SSH keys and save. New and reinstalled servers get it automatically.
- Put it on an existing server. On the server card press Copy my SSH keys.
- Connect. The server card shows the SSH command. On shared-IP servers it includes a port, like ssh -p 20000 root@address; use it exactly as shown.
Root password
Show root password on the server card reveals the initial password, and Reset password sets a new one. The password always works in the browser console.
Password SSH
If you need it, Turn on password SSH on the server card. Bots try passwords on every server all day, so use a long password, or better, a key. Failed logins are banned automatically.
Firewall
Firewall on the server card sets rules for traffic coming into the server. Where shown, DDoS firewall filters traffic before it reaches the server.
